  1. THE COLOUR PURPLE by Ritamarie Recine

Maybe Purple Rain was not about rain after all
    but spirituality, compassion.
Prince proclaimed it a long time ago
In his music, in his persona, in his way of speaking.
    I learnt a lesson today.
For every lesson, there is a blessing

Here is my work, my poem
a tribute to the colour purple
    Colour purple, colour purple

    such a beautiful sight

    imagination spirituality

    intense and in touch

In all of its glory, with all of its might.

the color purple is used in times of triumph and also in sorrow

a combination of red and blue.
    a wonderful hue

One can wear purple whether we are young or old

it is a lively and rich colour not bold

    purple conveys energy and enlightenment.

    Excitement

    Freedom and attraction

    brightness.

A colour of change, transformation of our inner selves

No need to dwell. A confident colour.

Purple and violet are joined in harmony.

they are friends, collaborators, they complement one another

similar to the wonderful array of colours

    A rainbow.

    they flow

    colors of compassion, fashion.

    magical, mysterious, serious,

    royalty, extravagance.

    calamitous, miraculous.

the color purple is strong yet sensitive,

    similar to its sister violet.

    Many can benefit

It is not a follower but a leader.

    Who knows ?

Maybe purple rain was not about rain after all

    but spirituality, compassion.

Prince proclaimed it a long time ago

This is what the colour purple means to me.
